Millennials might get a bad reputation of always finding the easy way out but millennials are next in line to be homebuyers. Believe it or not, millennials represented over 42% of all new home loans in 2021. What does this mean? It means millennials are tired of renting and want to own. Luckily, there are many simple affordable tricks that you can upgrade to attract the youngsters so you can sell fast.

1. Home Office Space

Home spaces are in right now and millennials are loving it. These young men and women come from a generation of coding, engineering, and programming so it’s only natural that home spaces will attract them.

“For as long as I’ve been working in real estate, millennials are the folks like simplicity. The simpler a room is the better reaction I get from them. Baby boomers on the other hand want bright colors and colorful rugs.” Says, Rene Ernie from Carter Real Estate Group in Carson, California.

The good thing about remodeling is that you can easily fix and replace anything in the house to make things more attractive and appealing. A good idea will be staging one of the smaller rooms in the house to attract sellers.

2. Smart Gadgets

This might seem like a no-brainer because millennials love smart gadgets. Smart tech in the house makes things much easier. The question is what smart gadgets are the right gadgets?

“We’re living in a world where everything is controlled by our phones or virtual assistance like Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s HomePod. Other smart gadgets include smart LED lights that turn on, on command, smart refrigerators, tablets, smart thermostats, smart window blinds, smart intercom systems, security cameras, smart Wi-Fi video doorbell, smart garden watering timer, smart door locks, and even smart mirror personal assistance. You need to focus on the buyers you’re trying to sell to and not what you think is in,” says, Theodor Jackson from Re/Max in Cerritos, California.

3. Energy-Efficient Appliances

Energy-efficient appliances are becoming more and more popular for the simple fact that they save energy and keep maintenance at a low cost.

“Millennials are choosing eco-friendly materials such as recycled steel, bamboo, sheep’s wool, straw bales, precast concrete, and nontoxic paint, plant-based polyurethane foam, and Energy Star appliances all over the house. This is great because it helps with waste and keeps electricity down.” Says Samantha Keepers from Five-Four-Three Remodeling Services in West Hollywood, California.

4. Entertainment Room

When it comes to a great entertainment room it has to have big televisions, surround sound, and soft bucket-seat couches. The entertainment room is an important feature for men who love sports and having people over.

“People who love to host parties will make an entertainment room out of any room. A game room or gathering room is usually more important to the man of the house rather than the woman. An entertainment room is a great place for pastime.” Says, Andre Porter from A&A Remodeling LLC in Orange County, California.

5. USB Outlets

This might seem like something small, but let’s be honest, we all have our phones and tablets in hand and the majority of the time they need some juice. Having USB outlets will make things easier for everyone since half of the time we spend 10-15 minutes looking for a charger.

“This is simple but can be effective, millennials like simple and easy by addicting this feature you will be hitting the nail right in the head,” says, Porter. “Finding simple ways to make people’s live a bit more simple will get you the sale” Porter adds.
